VIRGINIA MAY TOMLIN DAVIS - OBITUARY

April 28, 1922 - March 19, 2012.

Virginia M. Tomlin Davis, 89, of N. Lewisburg died Monday morning, March 19th, at Heartland of Marysville following an extended illness. She was retired from Memorial Hospital.

She was a longtime member of the N. Lewisburg United Methodist Church and a member of Caroline Chapter #39 OES in Mechanicsburg. Over the years, she served as a Girl Scout Leader for 25 years, a Cub Scout Leader for 16 years and was a member of the Champaign County Homemakers and the Hill & Valley Garden Club.

Virginia served in the US Army during WWII and, for 65 years, decorated local cemeteries with flags for Memorial Day. In her early years, she worked as a telephone operator in North Lewisburg and, in later years as a nurse aide at Memorial Hospital in Marysville.

A person with a great sense of humor, she was known about the hospital as “Ruby Begonia” by the doctors and staff. In her leisure, she enjoyed crocheting and making crafts.

Virginia was born April 28, 1922 in St. Paris to the late John L. and Stella M. Millington Tomlin. She was married to James R. “Skinny” Davis who also preceded her in death as did a brother John J. Tomlin.

She is survived by her children, Douglas L. (Ann) Fadely of Sunbury, Carl R. (Alicia) Davis of N. Lewisburg, Laura (Steve) Couch of Woodstock, Paula (Darius) Plank of W. Liberty; 8 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren; brothers, Charles F. (Doris) Tomlin of West Milton, Paul E. “Pete” (Patricia) Tomlin of N. Lewisburg; sisters, Phyllis A. Clark of Milford Center and L. Ellen Organ of N. Lewisburg.

Calling hours will be Wednesday from 5-8 pm at the Ingram Funeral Home, Maryville where funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Thursday with the Rev. Seeyong Lee officiating. Burial will follow at Maple Grove Cemetery in N. Lewisburg with full military honors being provided by the Union County Honor Guard.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Loving Care Hospice, the N. Lewisburg United Methodist Church or the Triad Music dept. in care of the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be her family, Doug Fadely, Carl Davis, Matt Fadely, Eric Couch, Josh Thomas, Darry Plank, Thad Davis and Steve Couch.
