ROY HENRY BROWN - OBITUARY

October 12, 1925 - July 18, 2008

Roy Henry Brown, 82, of Fountain Hills, AZ, left this life to dwell in the House of the Lord on July 18, 2008. He was an extremely devoted husband and father who was preceded in death by his beloved wife Joan Sjogren Brown nearly 5 years ago. Roy is survived by his children Eric, Amy and Bruce; grandchildren Harrison, Byron and Nina; son-in-law Paul Sabol; daughter-in-law Yuka Brown; his cousins and most treasured lifelong friends. His family believes he was the most wonderful man they could have ever known and they take solace in the fact that he is together again with the love of his life. Roy was born in Brentwood, PA on October 12, 1925 and met Joan in early 1943. He moved to CA in mid-1943 where he enlisted in the Navy and became a hospital corpsman with the 5th Marine Division. Roy was an Iwo Jima survivor and honored to serve the Marines he so revered. After WWII he returned to PA, married Joan and earned his BS Degree from the University of Pittsburgh. He was recalled for the Korean War and served stateside at Corona Naval Hospital in CA. Roy was proud to be a career salesman for Jones & Laughlin Steel Corporation (later LTV Steel). He and Joan raised their 3 children in CA and moved to AZ in 1994. Roy adored his children and grandchildren who could not have loved him more. Inurnment will be at the National Memorial Cemetery at Fort Rosecrans in Point Loma, CA.
