MARION CHARLES GRAY - OBITUARY
April 10, 1919 - July 28, 2015.
Marion Charles Gray, 96, of Groveport, Ohio, passed away July 28, 2015 at Mother Angeline McCrory Manor Columbus, Ohio, surrounded by his family and into the loving arms of his Savior. Marion was born April 10, 1919 in Haydenville, Ohio to Charles and Blanche Gray. He attended The Ohio State University then left school to enlist in the Army on December 8, 1941; he was a chemist for Columbus & Southern Electricity; manager of consumer sales for Sinclair Oil; part owner of Pine Hill Golf Coarse; a Charter Member of Madison Christian Church; member of Shrine #32 in Columbus; Masons Blue Lodge #240 in Groveport; a WWII Army Veteran of the 29th Division, Company A, 116th Infantry; medic in the 1st wave of Omaha Beach and four major battles; and awarded a Purple Heart, Bronze Star, French Legion of Honor and several other medals. Surviving are his daughters, Linda (John) Neth of Johnson City, TN, and Peggy (Dave) Fenstermaker of Westerville, Ohio; grandchildren, Christy (Mike) Elliott, J. (Anna) Neth, Brian (Lorinda) Fenstermaker, and Brent (Donelle) Fenstermaker; great-grandchildren, Isabella and Olivia Elliott, Garrett Robinson, and Leah, Chloe, Olivia, Sarah, Asa, and Kara Fenstermaker; several nieces and nephews; and loving friends, Gene Sedwick, Jerry (Kathy) Sedwick and family, and Tom (Kay) Knode and family. Marion was preceded in death by his mother, wife Ruth Kathleen "Walker" Gray and sister Katy Houck. Funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, August 1, 2015 at the Madison Christian Church, Groveport, Ohio with Pastor Paul Barnes officiating. A celebration luncheon will be directly afterwards. Graveside service will be held at 2:30 p.m. in Oak Grove Cemetery in Logan, Ohio. Calling hours will be observed, at the church, Friday, July 31, 2015 from 4-8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
