JACK LEE NICHOLS - OBITUARY
September 20, 1926 - January 13, 2011.
NICHOLS, JACK LEE Sept. 20, 1926 to Jan. 13, 2011 Jack was born in St. Louis, MO and raised in Garland, TX. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp during World War II. Jack fought at the Battle of Iwo Jima, the invasion of Guam and the invasion of the Carolina Islands. He was awarded two Purple Hearts and a divisional Bronze Star. Jack loved to travel and was always interested in local history. His travels took him to all 50 states, Europe, South America and Polynesia and the Philippines. Jack had his own sales and marketing organization for over 40 years. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Alice; along with their children Thomas, Patrick and daughter in law Melinda. Special thanks to Jack's loving caregiver James Crosley. A mass will be held at Mission San Diego de Alcala on Thursday, January 27, 2011, at 10:00 a.m. A graveside service will be held at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetary on February 17, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests making a donation to Catholic Charities, 349 Cedar Street, San Diego, CA 92101.
