HAROLD BENJAMIN ROSS - OBITUARY

May 12, 1921 - November 3, 2011.

Harold B. Ross, of Delta, Colorado, passed away on November 3, 2011 at the Sunrise Creek Care Center in Montrose, Colorado. He was 90 years of age. 

 

Funeral services honoring Harold's life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, November 7, 2011 at the First Baptist Church in Delta, Colorado. Interment will follow at the Delta City Cemetery in Delta, Colorado. 

 

Harold Benjamin Ross was born on May 12, 1921, to Charles M. and Nora A. (Kelley) Ross in Olathe, Colorado, where he attended elementary and high school, after which he attended Mesa State and William Jewel Colleges.

He joined the Army during WWII and became a front line Combat medic, winning the Bronze Star for courage under fire, as well as other citations.

He first married Kathryn Eileen Ross on January 10, 1943. To this marriage, three children were born: James Harold Ross, Patricia K. Stroud and Kristi L. Ross-Kjeldraard.

Harold worked for the Soils Conservation Service before finding his calling in real estate. While working for United Farm Agency he became Regional Manager, responsible for setting up and managing new offices in Colorado, Wyoming, Utah, Arizona, Nevada and New Mexico. He won many top awards before retiring in 1986.

Kathryn passed away December 15, 1989. He then met and married Kolando Kay Ranch on August 10, 1990. Kay and Harold pursued many interests and activities. One that became special to them both was the continuation of Harold's lifelong love of horses.

Harold is survived by wife, K. Kay Ross; sister, Bessie Blouch; son, James Harold Ross; daughters: Pat Stroud and Kristi Ross-Kjeldgaard; stepchildren: Tonya Hodgs, Rocky Ranch and Randy Ranch; five grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren; four great-grandchildren and one stepgreat-grandchild.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 6, 2011 at Taylor Funeral Service Chapel, 682 1725 Road, Delta, Colorado.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to be made in Harold's memory to First Baptist Church Local Mission Fund, 1250 Pioneer Road, Delta, Colorado 81416.

Arrangements are under the care and direction of Taylor Funeral Service and Crematory.
