GORDON FREDERICK WARD - OBITUARY
November 29, 1923 - June 18, 2011.
Gordon Frederick Ward, 87, of Kensington Park died of congestive heart failure June 18, 2011.
Born Nov. 29, 1923, in Watertown, N.Y., he was a son of the late Lorne C. and Geneva R. Ward. He was the husband of Carmen R. Ward for more than 65 years.
SGT. Ward served in the U.S. Marine Corps and was wounded in action in Iwo Jima. He was awarded the Purple Heart. He was a retired safety engineer for the U.S. Government and was a lifetime member of the American Legion, the VFW and the Airline Owners and Pilots Association. He was an avid pilot.
Survivors in addition to his wife include three children, Frederick A. Ward of Los Gatos, Calif., Ana Maria Ward of Kensington and Gordon R. Ward of Silver Spring; one brother, Lorne Ward of Sarasota, Fla.; Grandfather of Sara Ross-Trimmer, Trevor Ward, Kellie Ross-Carpen, and LCpl Jessica L. DeLosSantos, USMC. Also survived by five great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at a later date at Holy Cross Church. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery.
Graveside Service will be held at Arlington National Cemetery on Monday, July 18, 2011 at 10 a.m. Everyone attending please meet at the Administration Building at 9:30 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of your choice.
