GEORGE EARL WHEELER- OBITUARY

June 5, 1925 - October 5, 2006

George E, Wheeler, 81, of Owensboro passed away Thursday, October 5, 2006 at his home. Born June 5, 1925, Mr. Wheeler was the son of the late Vincent George and Anna Rosetta Faith Wheeler. He retired from Modern Welding where he was chief pilot and in sales for 38 years; was a member of Third Baptist Church; Mr. Wheeler served as a 2nd Lieutenant with the 145th Bomber Squadron, 8th Air Force in the Pacific Theatre of Operation during World War II where he flew B-25 Bombers. Mr. Wheeler enjoyed riding motorcycles and was building his own airplane, a Firebolt. He was preceded in death by a brother, Robert Wheeler.

 

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Betty Jean Wilson Wheeler; a son Dr. Dana (and his wife Vien) Wheeler of Shreveport, LA; a daughter, Carol Wheeler of Owensboro; five grandchildren, Skyler Shown, Sterling Shown, Daniel Wheeler, Jacob Wheeler, and Aaron Wheeler; and a sister, Rosetta McDaniel of San Diego, CA. 

 

Services are 1 P.M. Monday, October 9, 2006 at Glenn Funeral Home with Dr. James Byrd officiating followed by entombment in Owensboro Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 4-8 P.M. Sunday, October 8, 2006 and after 11 A.M. on Monday at the funeral home.
