GEORGE KOSTOPOULOS - OBITUARY

September 25, 1925 - May 7, 2008

George Kostopoulos, age 82, of Henderson, NV, formerly of Barrington, IL, Veteran of WWII, U.S. Army, Recipient of the Silver Star, Purple Heart and a hero to all, loving husband and best friend of 52 years to Georgia, nee Karabatsos; loving father of Kristie Lee Kostopoulos, George (April) Kostopoulos and Elaine (Ken) Swift; proud grandfather of 11 and great-grandfather of two; dear brother of Bessie (the late Tom) George, Dora (the late Ted) Mylonas, Nick (Anne) Kostas, Peter (Stella) and John (Elaine) Kostopoulos; brother-in-law of Peter (Carolyn) Karabatos; fond uncle of many nieces and nephews. George was a founding father and member of St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church in Des Plaines and a member of St. John the Baptist Church in Las Vegas, NV. He was active with the St. John Church Men's Club and served asSecretary/Treasurer for the bowling league for over 35 years. George worked in the printing industry for over 40 years, serving as manager for Regensteiner and Manz companies. Visitation Tuesday from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home, 185 E. Northwest Hwy., Palatine. Family and friends will meet Wednesday morning at St. John the Baptist Greek Orthodox Church, 2350 Dempster St., Des Plaines, IL, 60016, for Funeral Service at 10:30 a.m. Interment Elmwood Cemetery.
