November 1, 1925 - May 31, 2012.

86 of Phoenix, passed away on May 31, 2012. after a valiant fight against cancer. Bob was born in Youngstown, Ohio, on November 1, 1925. During WWII, at the age of 17, he enlisted in the Navy. He served 3 years aboard the USS Henrico where he participated in the invasion of Omaha Beach on D-Day as well in the Pacific. After the war, Bob moved to Phoenix where he met his wife, Elsie Lois Buchanan. They were married on November 1, 1947, on his 22nd birthday. For over 50 years Bob was a proud member of the Sheetmetal Workers Union, Local 359, where he served as Apprentice Coordinator from 1965 until his retirement in 1990. Bob was President of the Sheetmetal Workers Retirees Club until April, 2012. Bob is survived by Lois, his wife of 64 years, his brother, Raymond Clifford Walker, 5 children: Robert C. Walker, Barbara Hadley (husband, KP), Cathie Regan (husband, Rick), John Walker (wife, Julie), and Susan Snyder (husband, Ross), 12 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Visitation will be on Tues. June 5, 2012 from 5-8 pm at Resthaven Park Mortuary, 4310 E. Southern, in Phoenix, 85042. Memorial services will be held Wed. June 6, 2012 at 11:00 am at North Phoenix Baptist Church, 5757 N. Central, in Phoenix, 85012. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Hospice of the Valley, for their loving care and support, to Dr. Dubnow, Bob's lifelong personal physician and Dr, Polowy, his Oncologist.
