WILLIAM GEORGE BETTRIDGE - OBITUARY
May 6, 1921 - November 22, 2012.
William George "Boots" Bettridge, WWII Veteran Queens Own Rifles.
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of William George “Boots” Bettridge on November 22, 2012. Born May 6, 1921 to William and Elsie, married to Amy, who passed in 2008 for 60 years. Proud father of Skip(Bev), Keith(Karen) and Albert(Jackie). Loving Poppa to Bill, Bonnie, Krista, Justin, Jessica, Danielle and Albert. Loving Great Grandpa to 7: Rachel, Julia, Abegaile, Tessa, Isacc, Ronan and Hugo. Loving brother of Florence, Bettie, Marilyn, Bob and Barry. Predeceased by brother Albert and Sister Margaret.

Boots enlisted with the Lorne Scots in June 1940. He joined the Queens Own Rifles and landed in England in 1944. Boots held rank of Sergeant and was a sniper in Company A that landed in England in 1944. Boots made it through D-Day at Normandy also through France, Belgium, Holland and Germany.
Boots is a true WWII D-day veteran hero. Bill touched many hearts here at home and in Europe. He leaves us all with cherished memories and a better world.

Family and Friends will be received at the Ward Funeral Home “Brampton Chapel”, 52 Main Street South (Hwy 10), Brampton on Friday November 30, 2012 from 2-4 and 7-9pm. Funeral Service to be held on Saturday December 1, 2012 at 1pm in the Ward Funeral Chapel.
